You do not need to know what IBC Tool calls a document before you upload it. Upload Document reads an annual statement, a contract, an illustration, or a policy summary, tells you what it found, and takes you to the step for that kind of document. A transaction history has its own upload, Import history. IBC Tool files the document only when you choose the next step. If the policy has no policy number yet, it takes the number from the document when it reads it.
Steps
- Open the policy. In Documents & Imports, select Upload document. The Upload buttons for the contract and the annual statements in the setup card open the same page.
- Select Choose file, and choose the PDF.
- Select Upload & extract. A large document can take a minute.
- Check what IBC Tool found. It names the kind of document, and for an annual statement, the policy year.
- Select the next step, or Choose a different file if it is the wrong file. If IBC Tool names the wrong kind, use the links below the result to upload the file as the right kind. You choose the file again there.
What each document does
| Document | What IBC Tool reads | The next step |
|---|---|---|
| Annual statement | The values for one policy year | Record values opens the statement form with the values filled in. Check them, then record them as a snapshot for that year. |
| Contract or illustration | The premium, the paid-up additions terms, and the projected values | Save as policy contract files it. IBC Tool fills only the terms that are blank on the policy, but not the Current PUA Payment, and it adds the projected values to the Cash Value chart. When an illustration is on file, the chart keeps the illustration values. |
| Policy summary from your portal | Today’s Available Loan Amount | Record snapshot opens Record Snapshot with the values filled in. IBC Tool does not keep the PDF, because you can print a new one from the portal. |
| Transaction history | Past loans, payments, and paid-up additions | A transaction history has its own upload. Select Import history on this page or in Documents & Imports. You review each line before anything is recorded. |
If the policy number does not match
If the document has a different policy number than this policy, the page says so. The next step asks what to do: use the number from the document if it is the same policy, move the file to a different policy, or discard it. For a contract, the choice shows in Documents & Imports on the policy page.
If the upload fails
If the button shows Try again in and a countdown, wait, then select Upload & extract again. Your file stays selected. If the file was already uploaded on this policy, the page says so. Find it in Documents & Imports. If IBC Tool cannot read the file, the page still offers the other uploads. For an annual statement, select statement form, choose the file again, and type the values that IBC Tool could not read. For a contract or an illustration, select save it as your policy contract. IBC Tool files the PDF and fills the terms that it can read.
