Sign in with Face ID or a fingerprint

Skip the email code on your own phone or computer. Sign in to IBC Tool the same way you unlock the device, and keep the email code for every other device.

IBC Tool sends a 6-digit code by email each time you sign in. Most codes arrive in seconds, but some email providers hold mail from a new sender for a few minutes. On your own phone or computer, you can skip the code and sign in the same way you unlock the device:

  • iPhone: Face ID
  • Mac: Touch ID
  • Android: your fingerprint or screen lock
  • Windows: Windows Hello

This uses a passkey. Your device keeps it, and it never leaves your device or your password manager. IBC Tool never sees your face or your fingerprint.

Turn it on

  1. Sign in with an email code, as usual.
  2. IBC Tool asks Sign in with Face ID next time? (or the name your device uses). Select Yes, use Face ID (or the name your device uses).
  3. Unlock with your face, your fingerprint, or your screen lock when the device asks.

IBC Tool opens. The next time you sign in on this device, Sign in with Face ID is the first button on the sign-in page.

If you’re already signed in, you don’t have to sign out. When the Dashboard no longer shows Getting started, it asks the same question. Select Yes, use Face ID (or the name your device uses) there. The question stays until you select Yes or Not now on that device.

IBC Tool asks only on a device with Face ID, a fingerprint, or a screen lock that your browser can use. If you select Not now, it does not ask again on that device.

You can also turn it on later. Go to Settings, then Sign-in methods, and select Add a passkey for this device.

IBC Tool emails you each time a passkey is added to your account.

On the sign-in page, select Sign in with Face ID (or the name your device uses). On some devices, the passkey also shows when you select the email field. Unlock the device, and you’re in.

On a new device

A passkey works on the device that saved it, and on the devices that share its password manager. For example, a passkey on your iPhone also works on your Mac when both use iCloud Keychain.

On any other device, select Send sign-in code and sign in with the email code. IBC Tool then offers to add a passkey on that device too, unless you selected Not now there before.

Remove a passkey

Go to Settings, then Sign-in methods. Select Remove next to the device. IBC Tool then refuses that passkey, and the device signs in with an email code. IBC Tool also signs you out on every other device, so a lost device loses its access. Your device or your password manager can still list the passkey. You can delete it there too.

Remove the passkey of a phone or computer that you sell, give away, or lose.

If your codes arrive late

Add the address that sends your sign-in code to your contacts. Many email providers deliver mail from a contact right away.
